Did you know that 87% of people believe they will die from cancer or heart disease?
Is it possible to live a life free of these diseases, and perhaps all diseases? Dr. Bruce Lipton, author and Stanford University research scientist thinks so. The secret, he says, can be traced to the connection between mind and body. He says: "Rather than being the victims of our genes, we have been the victims of our perceptions."
More and more studies are concluding that we can change our physiology simply by changing the way we think. One study focusing on the mind / body connection involved the effects of "super oxygenated water" and exercise performance. 84% of the subjects altered their physiological states by running considerably faster, with increased heart rate and perceived exertion when they believed they were drinking super oxygenated water. They were actually drinking tap water. Increased recovery rates have also been shown in cancer patients when they believe any form of treatment is going to work.
One way to tap into your own mind / body connection is to think about who you want to be, rather than what you want to do. For example: Change your thinking from "I will exercise and eat better." to "I want to be an athlete / body builder / yoga expert." etc. This gives the imagination an easier target with more profound results.
